Special Message from Ankie:

Quite often students ask me to teach a class on costuming a doll.

In the next 8 costuming explanations (and a bonus lesson nr. 9) I will show you how I costume my dolls.

This is definitely not a class about patterns and sizes, but it just shows you how I ´play` with fabrics, trims, buttons and embellishments.

For me costuming a doll is like ´sculpting` with fabrics and all that goes with it.

Mostly I even do not have a plan, but during the process of the costuming my minds jumps from one idea to another.

I can be inspired to make a costume because of one certain piece of trim.

All the rest will ´join` the costume while working on it.

I like the conventional doll shapes, but I also like unusual body shapes just cut by hand out of Styrofoam.

I never use a pattern; only I measure the size of the body etc. if I need something to fit exactly.

So, in all these lessons I show you my way of working, and of course I am happy to answer all your questions.
