The class is dedicated to working in air dry clay (paperclay) to create two mini figures: URBAN ANGEL (Portrait/Bust) and CELESTIAL (body shape).
We will cover a step-by-step sculpting process with the use of mixed media techniques to accentuate and texturize the pieces. This class encourages a more abstract approach to sculpting in paperclay. Use of exaggerated shapes and proportions combined with implementation of textures and color will help you take the next steps when working with an air dry medium like paper clay.
DAY 1 & 2 - Approaching the sculpt with abstract ideas. Building armature.
Sculpting the head/body, adding wings
DAY 3 - All about TEXTURE. Exploring textures available in your home, working with various materials to add surface texture.
DAY 4 - All about PAINTING. Discovering ways to approach color gradually, with the use of acylic paints and inks. Building interest with multiple layers. Distressing techniques.
Finishing with metal and/or crystal embellishments. Finalizing the pieces.
