Fascinating Story of Yellow Bird -Yellow Bird is the first in a series of Story Book art dolls.

"Yellow Bird and her felonious crows, Jake and Big Daddy, stole the show on opening night.  Although grateful for the applause and acclaim backstage, Yellow Bird must NOW find the owner of the large ruby Jake “found” during his performance.  Truth be told, the recidivism rate of felonious crows is very high."

This art doll illustration features a cloth art doll and her two trained crows.   PaperClay was used to create a head, hands, feet and two glorious crows.  Yellow Bird’s cloth costuming was assembled using several costuming techniques: fabric burning, accent beading, and fabric gathering.  Yellow Bird’s arms and legs are supported by wire armature (arms) and wooden dowels for leg support.    An aviary support was created using a wooden dowel and wooden embroidery hoop.  All three characters were positioned on a painted wooden base.  This completed illustration measures 31.5” tall x 12” wide.
Linda Hollerich majored in art education at Southern Illinois University.  Her first great art passion centered on stained glass.  Her studio provided custom windows to private buyers and
specialized in church windows.   Her second great art passion was jet propelled by Ray Slater’s “Cloth Dolls for Textile Artists”.   Following six months of research, Linda made her first doll and hasn’t stopped.  Linda currently teaches online classes and creates resale doll patterns.  She has been featured in “Art Doll Quarterly”  with “Dance of the Sisty Uglers” and won a Judge’s Choice Award in the 2010 Treasures of the Gypsy Challenge with “Mimsey RuRu”.
