Patti was born in Illinois and spent some of her early years on a farm. She comes to the world of cloth dolls from fine arts. Artistic skills developed in that discipline have been the foundation for her doll designs and the classes she teaches.
The year 1991 was a turning point in Patti’s artistic career when she began creating the human figure in cloth. Blessed with a vibrant imagination and using her observations of nature, people, and other doll makers, she developed her distinctive style. In demand as a teacher and lecturer, Patti travels the world spreading the joy of her love of cloth doll making. Several years ago, Patti expanded her artistic resources with a line of rubber stamps that is produced by Ready Stamps, a division of the United Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
Patti’s work has been featured on television, including a segment on HGTV’s Carol Duvall Show. Her artistry has been shown in magazines such as Dolls, Bears & Collectibles in Australia, Stitch, Be Creative and Dolls magazines in the UK. Soft Dolls & Animals, Art Doll Quarterly, Cloth Paper Scissors and Quilting Arts in the U.S.
In 2003 her first book “Creative Cloth Doll Making” was published. Since then she has had four other books published: “Creative Cloth Doll Faces”, “Creative Cloth Doll Couture”, “Creative Cloth Doll Beading”, and “Creative Cloth Explorations: Adventures in Fairy-inspired Fiber Art”. Her publisher combined her first 4 doll making books into one large volume “Creative Cloth Doll Collection”.
Recently she had two DVD’s produced by Galli Creative – Cloth Doll Making and Cloth Doll Inspirations. Both DVD’s share her love of the cloth doll and fun embellishments.
