Class Description
Rapunzel is a two piece doll that represents both the idea of her being trapped at the top of the castle as well as becoming one with her surroundings. Her head and torso are painted fabric and her castle/body is sculpted of paper clay. In this class you will create Rapunzel by sculpting, skinning and painting her face and torso. You will also create a wire armature for the castle as well as create the 'brick' exterior. Acrylic paint is used to create the illusion of weathered brick. Birds, sculpted from paper clay, accent the piece and bring movement and color. Bits of 'grass' grow up the side of the castle.
The hair on the sample is made using Muga silk yarn that is highlighted with touches of paint and is finished with a silk ribbon tied on her braid. She stands approximately 21".
